HAPPY
NEW YEAR!!!
12/28/2006 -
The end of the week is
drawing near, and a whole
new year is about to rear
it's ugly head. I look
back and find it hard
to believe that Lethal
Death has been around
as long as it has, and
that I've been writing
for it going on 4 years.
Time sure flies. Let's
see just how many reviews
I can post between today
and New Year's Eve!
Criss
Angel Mindfreak: Season
2
Gene
Simmons Family Jewels:
Season 1
Hogan's
Heroes: Season 5
Pathogen
The
Wicker Man (2006)
12/27/2006 -
You'd think I'd learn
by now. Having family
is a wonderful, beautiful
thing and I wouldn't trade
them for anything in the
world. But I have a better
shot at winnng the lottery
than having time to get
any writing done. Still,
I can't complain... I
love the little rascals.
I meant to have
a bunch of reviews ready
for you over the last
couple of days, but I'm
just now taking the opportunity
to drag myself back in
front of the computer.
For now, I'd like to give
you the first official
LETHAL
DEATH Top Ten DVD list...
circa 2006.
12/23/2006 -
This is it.... the night
before the night before
Christmas. Tomorrow I'm
going to have a houseful
of people... family, if
the rumors are true. I'm
not sure how many there'll
be, but as I'm not a crowd
kinda guy... anything
over 5 will be way too
many.
Still, I expect
I'll have some fun...
won't get any writing
done, but with any luck
we'll all have the chance
to watch my favorite traditional
Christmas movie, Shaun
of the Dead.
I'll be back
on Monday with a whole
bunch of reviews for all
of the DVDs you should
have bought as Christmas
presents. I might even
give in and post a year
end Ten Best DVDs of 2006
review. For now, enjoy
these little gems:
Animaniacs:
Volume 2 / Pinky and the
Brain: Volume 2
The
Simpsons: Season 9
12/17/2006 -
Geez, I can't believe
Christmas is going to
be here in just a few
days. I guess I really
need to get my butt out
there and shop. Here's
a couple of suggestions
for the DVD fanatic (there'll
be a lot more every day
this week):
Lady
in the Water
Masters
of Horror: Fair-Haired
Child
World
Trade Center
12/12/2006 -
Would you believe it's
already just a little
under TWO weeks until
Christmas... and I have
yet to do any shopping?!?!?
Usually I have it all
done by mid-November.
So now I have to brave
all the corwds doing their
last minute shopping.
I'm going to be in hell...
Wait! I've got it! I can
send my wife. She LOVES
shopping. I'll just stay
home and watch a few more
DVDS:
Air
Buddies
Mission
Impossible: Season 1
Roseanne:
Season 6
Talladega
Nights: The Legend of
Ricky Bobby
The
Chronicles of Narnia:
Extended Edition
12/7/2006 - Thank
God the weekend is coming
up! Having a day job where
most of the people you
work for and around wouldn't
know humor from a hole
in the ground can make
a guy mighty crazy. My
warning to you... NEVER
work in the corporate
world. If you read Dilbert,
you know the truth.
Tonight I have a couple
more reviews for ya:
A
Fish Called Wanda: 2-Disc
Collector's Edition
Black
Christmas
How
I Met Your Mother: Season
1
How
to Eat Fried Worms
12/5/2006 - This
was a good week for DVDs.
Tonight I have a handful
for you, plus an extra,
special added attraction.
My first ever BOOK review!!
But not any book mind
you, but one written especially
with me in mind. Well,
at least for those like
me who share a certain
kind of reading habit.
But first, the DVDs:
24:
Season 5
Bones:
Season 1
High
School Musical Remix
Pirates
of the Caribbean: Dead
Man's Chest
And for my first
book review:
Uncle
John's Curiously Compelling
Bathroom Reader
12/4/2006 - Tonight
I'm back with a little
something special... a
little different. CD reviews
for a guy named Stephen
Lynch. You'll love
these.
12/2/2006 - So
begins my final week of
catch-up. My plan is to
post a few reviews every
night this week (except
perhaps Sunday) until
I have no more left to
give... until next week.
First up:
Ant
Bully
Clerks
2
Ellen:
Season 5
Kevin
Smith: Evening Harder
Monster
House
Pulse
12/1/2006 - So
here we are, offically
starting off the count
to Christmas Eve. Is your
shopping done??
Criminal
Minds: Season 1
Joan
of Arcadia: Season 2
11/29/2006 -
Tonight I'm only back
with one review, but its
for a doozy of a set.
This one belongs on the
Christmas list for the
fans:
Six
Feet Under: The Complete
Series
11/28/2006 -
Having survived the onslaught
of Turkey Day, with the
way too many people gathered
for the feast (I'm kind
if a loner guy... anything
over 4 is way too many)
and the veritable feast
of delicious food that
yanked me out of my self-imposed
diet... I'm back to hit
you up with a few reviews.
But these aren't any reviews..
they are all about Superman...
so without further ado:
Superman
II: The Richard Donner
Cut
Superman
Returns
Superman:
The Movie Serial Collection
The
Adventures of Superman:
Seasons 5 & 6
11/22/2006 -
So the list of this week's
catch-ups grows as I am
back once again with a
handful of reviews. And
though tomorrow may be
Turkey Day, I promise
to sacrifice the time
to give you even more:
CSI:
Season 6
Family
Guy: Volume 4
JAG:
Season 2
NCIS:
Season 2
Stephen
Lynch: Live at the El
Rey
Tales
From the Crypt: Season
5
Texas
Chainsaw Massacre: 2-Disc
Ultimate Edition
11/21/2006 -
This is my second night
of catch up and I only
have a handful... but
trust me, by tomorrow
night (just in time for
Turkey Day), I'll have
quite a list:
3rd
Rock from the Sun: Season
6
Alias:
Season 5
Azumi
Boston
Legal: Season 2
Lois
& Clark: Season 4
Police
Squad: The Complete Series
The
Junky's Christmas
UKM:
The Ultimate Killing Machine
11/20/2006 -
I warned you last week
that I would be hitting
you with an onslaught
of DVD reviews and here
is the first day's load.
I'll have new ones for
you every night this week!!:
Boffo!
Tinseltown's Bombs and
Blockbusters
Feed
Harvey
Birdman: Volume 2
Mongolian
Ping Pong
The
Adventures of the Gummi
Bears: Seasons 1-3
The
Hitchhiker: Volume 3
11/17/2006 -
So much for the perfect
health issue... Some nigglings
of virus popped back up
again... BUT I gave the
computer a healthy dose
of Codeine and after it
woke back up it seems
that it is FINALLY back
amongst the living. Today
I only have one more review
for you, but over the
weekend be prepared for
an onslaught of reading:
49
Up
11/14/2006
- I guess Halloween night
had more of an adverse
affect on me than I thought.
Besides having the entire
family come down with
strep (which lasted more
than a week), it seems
our computers picked up
some kind of virus of
another kind. After a
week and a half of around
the clock vigils, both
the family and the computers
have new returned to full
health.
Now
comes the hard part, getting
all of the reviews posted
that need posting. A few
are late, some are on
time, and others are readying
themselves for your perusal.
For today I give you:
Battle
of the Brave
Freak
Out
Home
Improvement: Season 5
King
Kong: Deluxe Extended
Edition
MASH:
Season 11
The
Da Vinci Code
10/31/2006 -
What the hey?? It's Halloween
night... my favorite night
of the year and I don't
have a single HORROR review
for ya?? Why, that's blasphemy!
I oughta be strung up!
But I digress. I'm actually
getting ready to enjoy
the festivities in my
own inimitable fashion
so I'll be back in a day
or so with a list of reviews
that WILL include acouple
of horror titles. But
for now, check these out:
CSI
Miami: Season 4
Ghost
Whisperer: Season 1
Greg
the Bunny: Best of Film
Parodies
Kids
in the Hall: Season 5
MacGyver:
Season 7
The
Making of Miss Saigon
10/30/2006
- One more night until
the goblins and ghosties
crawl out from under your
bed... and one more day
until Fox
Atomic launches “Carnival
of Lost Souls” on
their website. It will
include exclusive clips
of their newest movie,
TURISTAS and contests
where you can WIN a private
screening, DVDs and posters.
Be sure to check it out
here:

10/29/2006 -
I thought I'd catch back
up with you before the
weekend ends with a couple
more DVD reviews. But
beware, I'll definitely
be back Halloween night
(ooooohhh... spooooky)
with more than just a
couple:
Voyage
to the Bottom of the Sea:
Season 2, Volume 1
10/28/2006
- Halloween is almost
upon us and if you haven't
yet had the chance to
see the Dallas Children't
Theatre production of
"The Night of the
Living Dead", you
only have until November
4th. If you missed my
review last week, check
it out here.
In
the meantime, some of
you might have guessed
from earlier reviews that
I'm an unabashed fan of
the cancelled series "Firefly",
and the subsequent film
"Serenity."
But my fan level pales
in comparison to the group
of people who put together
the DVD called "Done
the Impossible."
I strongly recommend the
DVD and I'll tell you
why. Well, I'll tell you
why IF you click on the
Poster below:

10/24/2006 -
I certainly didn't want
you to think the only
thing I had on my mind
this week was zombies,
so I'm back to give you
the skinny on a few new
DVDs hitting store shelves
this month. I should be
back tomorrow with a couple
more... I'm typing as
fast as my little fingers
will let me:
Batman
Beyond: Season 2
Bewitched:
Season 4
Big
Love: Season 1
Feast
Justice
League Unlimited: Season
1
Numb3rs:
Season 2
That's
My Bush: The Complete
Series
Wings:
Season 3
10/21/2006
- What better way to get
into the Halloween Spirit
than by taking in George
Romero's "The Night
of the Living Dead?"
Normally I'd just put
in the movie and relax,
but thanks to the folks
out at The Dallas Children's
Theater, I actually settled
in to watch a LIVE performance
of the story onstage...
or would that be 'Dead'
performance? You can read
my opinion by clicking
on the poster:

10/17/2006 -
I gotta be honest. This
week I'm a little disapointed.
I mentioned last week
that I went to get the
outlining done on my new
tattoo. I was SUPPOSED
to get the rest of it
done last Saturday. Unfortunately
the tattoo artist got
sick soooooo I have to
wait til next weekend
to finish it up.
Now, I can't fault the
guy. I'm glad he called
instead of working on
it while sick. I would
have caught his cold,
or worse he would have
sneezed right in the middle
of drawing and made a
permanent line across
my arm.
So instead of getting
my arm worked on, I watched
more than a few DVDs and
I'm here to tell you what
I thought:
Charmed:
Season 6
CSI
NY: Season 2
Hard
Candy
La
Femme Nikita: Season 5
Planet
of the Apes: The Complete
TV Series
Starsky
& Hutch: Season 4
Supernatural:
Season 1
That
70's Show: Season 5
Three's
Company: Season 8
Whose
Line is it Anyway: Season
1, Volume 1
10/10/2006 -
Only a couple of more
weeks til' Halloween and
I'm celebrating by getting
a new scary tattoo. That's
right, last Saturday I
made it through the first
of three sittings of mind-numbing
pain... all in the name
of art. My wife was incredibly
impressed that I could
sit there without so much
as making a face. (The
only clue was the sweat
forming on my upper lip...).
It did give me a little
time to reflect on a few
DVDs I'd seen though:
Alf:
Season 4
Bad
Santa: Director's Cut
Curious
George
Moonlighting:
Season 4
Scrubs:
Season 4
The
Book of Daniel: Complete
Series
10/3/2006 - This
the season to be scary,
Fa La La La La... La La..
La La. Yep, October is
always my favorite month
of the year because I
can scare people and get
away with it. Halloween
is the only holiday I
really get into, despite
the fact that it has gotten
as commercial as the rest.
This week, curl up in
a dark room and check
out these DVDs:
Backdraft:
15th Anniversary Edition
Digging
fo the Truth: Season 1
Forever
Knight: Season 3
I
Am a Sex Addict
Masters
of Horror: Imprint
McLeod's
Daughters: Season 1
Medium:
Season 2
Stargate
SG-1: Season 9
Thriller:
Season 1
The
Little Mermaid: Platinum
Edition
The
Notorious Bettie Page
The
Unit: Season 1
X-Men:
The Last Stand
9/26/2006 - I'm
finally running my fingers
ragged this week in order
to play catch up on the
tons of reviews for DVDs
that have been flying
across my desk. I'm bleary
eyed, but I still know
a good DVD from a bad
one. Here's some more
of this week's thoughts:
Akeelah
and the Bee
Avatar:
The Complete Book 1
Battlestar
Galactica: Season 2.5
Benny
Hill: Set 5
Beowulf
and Grendel
Danger
Mouse: The Final Seasons
Ellen:

Pride
and Prejdice: 10th Anniversary

Riptide:
Season 1
The
Lake House
The
Stephen King Collection
9/23/2006
- Another week
begins, I only wish it
could be one of unbridled
happiness and joy. Today
has been pretty much a
day of mowing, driving
and trying to get a 3
year old to take a nap.
Some days are easier than
others. You know its bad
when the wife gives you
the 'glare of death'.
Think I'll stay outta
the way for a bit and
tell you about a few DVDs:
Black.
White.
Bob
Newhart: Button Down Concert
Masters
of Horror: Dance of the
Dead
Stephen
King's Desperation
Unknown
White Male
Winchell
9/21/2006 - Hey,
I think I'm startin' to
like this posting every
few days thing. Can't
swear that time will allow
me to keep doing it, but
we'll see. Today I've
got two older titles from
20th Century Fox:
Frankenstein
Unbound
Shock
Treatment: 25th Anniversary
Edition
9/19/2006 - Told
ya I'd be back. and yes...
I know it took me a couple
more days than I said
it would. But you try
to get a 3-year old off
the ceiling. It's not
as easy as it sounds!
Anyhow, here's today's
grab bag:
Edgar
Allan Poe: Tales of Mystery
and Imagination
Galaxina:
25th Anniversary Edition
Go
For Zucker
Hart
to Hart: Season 2
Let's
Get Frank
My
Name is Earl: Season 1
Stay
Alive
Stick
It
Stupidity
The
Chris Rock Show: Seasons
1 & 2
9/16/2006 - It's
an awfully rare time that
I get to post reviews
over the weekend, but
as I am trying to catch
up on a glut of DVDs that
have come in over the
past couple of weeks I'm
getting my butt in gear.
My plan is to post a couple
of reviews every day or
the next week until I'm
all caught up. Whether
or not I pull it off remains
to be seen. With our 3-year
old floating around the
house it's hard to get
to the computer sometimes.
And yes, I mean literally
floating (note to self...
call exorcist).
Anyhow, while my wife
is busying herself trying
to get our daughter off
the ceiling, here's what
I have for today:
Red
vs. Blue: Seasons 1 -
4
Smallville:
Season 5
Teen
Titans: Season 2
The
Batman: Season 2
9/12/2006 - Today
I have to rush through
introductions, but tomrrow
I'll fill you in on how
the week has been, aside
from being horribly ill.
Here's a couple of reviews
for now:
Beavis
& Butthead Do America
The
Bob Newhart Show: Season
4
Dead
Man's Shoes
Diagnosis
Murder: Season 1
Spongebob
Squarepants: Season 4,
Volume 1
Taps:
25th Anniversary
United

9/8/2006 - Thought
I'd drop in one more time
before the weekend and
tell you about a couple
of independent films.
The first one is available
on DVD, the second isn't...
yet.

I'd be back this week.

The
ACLU Freedom Files
9/5/2006 - Well,
I enjoyed quite a long
holiday from my day job,
10 days in a row mind
you. Just went back today.
I got to get in a lot
of DVd watching in between
bouts of sleep, garage
cleaning and more sleep.
Today I only have three
reviews for you, but over
the next two days, be
prepared for an onslaught:
3rd
Rock from the Sun: Season
5
Lost:
Season 2
Savage
Sinema
8/29/2006 - Once
again I have had quite
the eventful weekend.
My wife and I have taken
time of from our dull
day jobs and are enjoying
peace and quiet in the
comfort of our own home...
sort of. Over the weekend
we opted to take the kids
on a 6-hour drive to Lubbock
to visit some of my wife's
family. Overall it was
actually a perfect trip,
except for the few moments
that our 3 year old woke
up and was visibly.. or
rather audibly... uncomfortable.
I also learned something
very important on the
trip. Dramamine works.
You see, I get really,
really nauseous when I
read or write in a moving
car. But I thought (as
my wife loves to drive)
that the 12 total hours
in the car might... just
might allow me a lot of
time to write reviews.
I picked up some Dramamine,
took it about an hour
before we started out
and wrote my little fingers
off with nary a nauseous
moment. Here are the results:
Arrested

8/22/2006
- When last I left you,
I mentioned that I was
taking my kids to 6 Flags
in the middle of this
ridiculous Texas Heat
Wave. I thought I was
nuts, but you know...
we couldn't have picked
a better time. Most of
the kids were back in
school (our son doesn't
go back til Sept 1st)
so the park was nearly
deserted. We never waited
to get on any ride, and
even though it was hot
there were plenty of places
to cool off.
It
was our 3-year old daughter's
first trip to 6 Flags
and she had the best time.
She rode every single
ride that her 37"
high body was allowed
to and feared nothing.
We followed that up with
two birthday celebrations
over the weekend and bascially
spoiled the heck out of
her. But while she was
sleeping off all the excitement,
I got a little DVD watching
in:
Blue
Thunder: The Complete

Poseidon
Remington

8/15/2006 - So
here we are, in the middle
of Texas, and we're on
our 254th day off triple
digit temperatures. I
know Texas was one of
the worst States to live
in, but I thought it was
because of the people...
not the weather, too!
So what's the best thing
to do when the weather
is this bad (aside from
move to a better State)?
Sit inside and watch a
few DVDs. Of course, tomorrow
I'm going to brave the
weather (and the people)
by taking my kids to 6
Flags. Am I nuts? Probably...
after all I live in Texas:
Apocalypse

The

The

8/8/2006 - So
two weeks have slipped
by, though it is not on
account of any laziness
on my part, oh no... You
may remember my mentioning
a few computer problems
the last time. Well they
reared their ugly heads
again and made writing
and posting a little difficult.
I think I have everything
back under control now
so with a little luck
(hot glue and duct tape)
Things should be getting
back to normal around
here. This week I'm here
to fill you in on these
new DVDs:
Alice
In Wonderland
Beavis
& Butt-Head: Volume
3
Broken
Saints
Don't
Come Knocking
Final
Destination 3
La
Femme Nikita: Season 4
Prison
Break: Season 1
Tales
from the Crypt: Season
4
Three's
Company: Season 7
7/25/2006 - Well,
so much for the best laid
plans of mice and men.
I had intended to add
a few more reviews last
week, but everything that
could go wrong... did
go wrong. Everything from
a broken garage door to
an air conditioner that
decided to quit air conditioning.
We had to spend 2 days
without air conditioning
with temperatures hitting
the triple digits outside.
Then the laptop I do most
of my writing on decided
to crash and the screen
said something about a
memory dump...which made
me think I had lost all
the reviews I had written
last week. Fortunately
it was the laptop unit
and not the hard drive
so I was saved from days
of re-writing the following
reviews:
Amazing
Stories: Season 1
Animaniacs:
Volume 1 / Pinky &
The Brain: Volume 1
Broken
Carnivale:
Season 2
Charlies
Angels: Season 3
I
Dream of Jeannie: Season

Jag:

Rawhide:
Season 1
The
Ellen Show: Complete Series
The
Incredible Hulk: Season
1
The
Prisoner: 40th Anniversary
Megaset
7/18/2006 - Since
making it past my birthday
last week, I've caught
up on several more DVDs
to tell you about. I'm
only giving you a look
at 5 today, but I'll have
more as the week progresses.
For now:
Avatar:
Book 1, Volume 4
Pirates:
The R-rated Version
Ren
& Stimpy: The Lost
Episodes
The
Adventures of Brisco County,
Jr: The Complete Series
The
Pretender: Season 4
7/11/2006
- As promised, after recuperating
from the 4th of July weekend
and in preparation for
my birthday tomorrow (though
at my age I'd rather forget
those), I got together
a ton of reviews. I'm
pretty sure these'll keep
ya busy for a while:
30
Days: Season 1
Basic
Instinct 2: Risk Addiction
Find
Me Guilty
Koko:
A Talking Gorilla - Criterion
Collection
Masters
of Horror: Homecoming
Perry
Mason: Season 1, Volume

Reno
911: Season 3
The
Libertine
The
Matador
The
World's Fastest Indian
Voyage
to the Bottom of the Sea:
Season 1, Volume 2
And
to sweeten the pot, I
have an additional movie
review for a disturbing
little flick that isn't
available on DVD yet:
Amateur
Porn Star Killer
7/7/2006
- I can't believe I made
it through another 4th
of July Holiday without
blowing up anything. Well,
at least anything I wasn't
supposed to blow up. What
also didn't happen over
the holiday weekend was
I watched very few DVDs.
This isn't to say that
I don't have a lot to
watch, I just spent a
little more family time...
something I should be
doing.
So this week I only have
2 DVD reviews and one
movie review. However
I have been doing a little
catching up so by next
week... be prepared for
an onslaught of |
