ARCHIVES 2007
1/2/2007 - 7/30/2007

1/2/2007 - It's unbelievable that we actually made it through to another year. Not the web site... I mean the world. With all the idiots we have running things nowadays, especially within our own shores, I can't believe we're still here. One of my New Year's resolutions is to make sure that wherever I can make my vote count, I'll do my level best to make sure we NEVER have as big a loser in charge of our country as we have now.

I will also re-double my efforts to bring you as many DVD reviews as I possibly can. Not as important of a resolution to be sure, certainly an easier one. To start of the New Year, check out these titles:
A Scanner Darkly
Snakes on a Plane

1/5/2007 - This week has been a little slow release-wise, but our own Gary Murray is back with an interview of Erin Grunwell, the teacher who is the subject of the new film "Freedom Writers." You can check out the interview here.

1/14/2007 - Ahhh, thankfully the holidays are over and I can get back to a regular schedule of reviewing DVDs. Over the next week or two, as the great DVD God begins churning out the little discs in greater numbers, I'll be bringing you as many reviews as possible. I even have a few short films to tell you about, some of which should be seen at all costs.

For today however, I bring you:
Extras: Season 1
The Illusionist
The Promise

1/17/2007 - I planned on having some reviews for you yesterday, but there has been a pretty heavy ice storm hitting our area of Texas. Our DSL was out yesterday, but is fortunately back in business today.
The Animation Show: Volumes 1 & 2
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
Walker, Texas Ranger: Season 2

I also got to check out an awesome and disturbing film this week. Can you imagine Colin Hanks as a depraved and sadistic voyeur? Me either. Check him out here:
Alone With Her

1/23/2007 - Now that we're getting closer to the end of January, the DVD release list is starting to hit full steam. Expect a lot of reviews in the coming weeks. Tonight I'll start with:
Avatar: Book 2, Volume 1
Council of the Gods / Rotation
Sheitan
2/1/2007- Last week's DFW ice storm did a number on our DSL service out here. And as we're set up in the sticks, getting things patched up can sometimes take.. a... long....... time. But get it fixed we did. I have a couple of catch up reviews for you, then a backlog that I intend to unleash over the next couple of days.
Facing the Giants
Gridiron Gang
I Dream of Jeannie: Season 3
The Guardian
2/3/2007 - Now that all of our ice storms are gone and the DSL is back up, we can post more reviews (good). But it also means we have to go back to work (bad). so here's a few reviews for the weekend.
Benny Hill: Volume 6
Flyboys
Jesus Camp

The Grudge 2
The Departed
Zoom: Academy for Superheroes

And be sure to enter the Bloody Mary contest. It ends tomorrow night at midnight!!

2/15/2007 - Ze Bloody Mary contest... she is over....how sad. We had a ton of correct answers... and quite a few creative ones... and we are going to do our tabulations today using the ultra advanced
"UNIVAC 3200 XR6"
to select our five lucky winners. We will be feeding in the punch cards this afternoon.
(That's right, we ARE on the cutting edge of 1960's technology here at Lethal Death)
2/20/2007 - We have so much going on this week I honestly don't know where to start. We finished up our contest to give away 5 copies of "Bloody Mary", and it took longer to tabulate and pick the winners than I thought. It was our biggest contest ever and we had so many right answers, and a few close ones, that our winners were picked just today. I'll be posting the correct answer and the winners Thursday.

We also have a whole slew of DVDs that we checked out for you, tonight is just the tip of the iceberg:

And before I forget, I want to mention again a new videogame that's hitting store shelves. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, but it kind of sounds like a party. It's the new American Idol Karaoke game for the Playstation 2. Next week, after I've had a chance to play it, I'll let you know what I think. 4/24/2007

Why is it that computer troubles seem to follow me everywhere? Last week I had to arm wrestle my computer just to try and get it to boot up. So after careful deliberation, I beleive I am going to be firing my current computer and replace it with a younger, curvier model. In the meantime, let's see if I can keep this one from finding out.

Check back with me tomorrow, by the way. I have two more brand new contests coming up. One for Tartan's "The Ghost", the other for TLA's "Pervert." For now though, settle back and check out these discs:
Albert Fish
Entourage: Season 3, Volume 1

Kidnapped: The Complete Series
Laverne & Shirley: Season 2
Mork & Mindy: Season 2
NCIS: Season 3
Night at the Museum
One Day at a Time: Season 1
Smokin' Aces
Spider-Man 2.1

5/1/2007 May Day.... May Day... We done come back with a few more reviews:
Forgiving Dr. Mengele

Verdict on Auschwitz
5/3/2007 Our two newest contests are finally over. It seems with every new contest we get more and more entries! Copies of "Pervert" and "Ghost" will be mailed out to our lucky winners this weekend. Check back with me tomorrow with links to the contest questions and answers. Next week, I should have some new and exciting contests ready for ya!!
5/22/2007

When you're a computer illiterate person like me, the slightest blip can cause problems that are seemingly far-reaching. I thought that replacing my computer would make all my troubles go away. And I'm sure that if I knew more than how to boot up and shut down, they would have. The problem is trusting someone else when they say they know everything about computers and tell me not to worry when they transfer old to new.

Needless to say, the transfer of materials did not go smoothly... and it took three different sets of hands for me to find the guy who could REALLY do it right. So now we're back in business, hopefully for good and reviews should start pouring in at a much faster rate than they have been.

So to kick start us again:
Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus
Stryper: Live in Puerto Rico
The Fountain
Who the #$&% Is Jackson Pollock

5/29/2007

I was truly hoping that the Memorial Day Weekend was going to be a grand one for our family. While it had its shining moments, the rainstorms hitting Texas brought with them several pieces of bad luck. Everything from running off the road... backwards to getting locked out of my own house due to a power outage (long story, but trust me... it can happen).

Let's see if things can get back to normal, shall we?
Hannibal Rising
Hex: Season 1
Kitchen Confidential: The Complete Series
Rescue Me: Season 3
Secrets of the Code
Sweeney Todd: The Director's Cut
The Droopy Theatrical Collection

5/30/2007

Ahh... it looks as though things are getting back to normal. Check with me tomorrow night and I will have some newer reviews for ya...

But in the meantime, be sure to check ot this cool new site offering an animated prequel to the show "24." And if you're not watching this series (just ending it's sixth season), you're missing a classic!!

6/12/2007

This time I really think our computer problems are at an end. We've been running several tests and this new setup seems to be working just fine. We even tried putting the whole thing underwater and aside from a few bubbles showing up in our reviews... there were no problems.

I only wish real life could be that simple. The other thorn in the side of our usual timliness in getting reviews out to you is the fact that by day I work for a 'far too big' corporate firm. The last 15 years of this employ have been pretty good, but this year they have decided that a 'reorganization' is needed. Basically, it is a head count reduction that is not being called a head count reduction so that the people... excuse me... the liabilities... they cut get screwed out of benefits.

Already they have let a lot of good people go, and as is the way of the ludicrous world that is corporate, kept some purely becasue they have the ability to brown nose. I have come to the decision that the previously known as "Great Place to Work" is really run by a bunch of corporate shills who feel that loyalty is a one-way street. This has worn heavily on me as I have no idea what the future holds with this firm. And even if I am spared from the Angel of Layoffs, I can't help but feel disgusted by what is happening to those who are not so lucky. I am told to 'Trust in my Leadership', but can only think that those who have already been cut must have trusted in their leadership... and look where it got them...

On a brighter note... I'm back with a few reviews to get you through the week:
Deadwood: Season 3
Diagonsis Murder: Season 2
Ghost Rider: Extended Version
Glastonbury
Hogan's Heroes: Season 6
Mission Impossible: Season 2
The Dead Zone: Season 5

6/14/2007 I'll try to keep you up to date on the ongoing mess that is taking place at my day job. I'm sure most of you really don't care... but I'm sure having fun writing about it. for those who wish to tune out the soap opera, here's a few reviews to keep you busy:
Animaniacs: Volume 3 / Pinky & The Brain: Volume 3
Gidorah / Invasion of Astro-Monster
Silver Spoons: Season 1
The Messengers
The Outer Limits: Season 1, Volume 1
The Practice: Volume 1
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: Season 3, Volume 1
6/26/2007If you live anywhere in the Dallas or Forth Worth, chances are your house is underwater. I haven't seen this much rain since... well... does the term '40 days and 40 nights' ring a bell?

Thankfully I invested in a waterproof DVD player so I was still able to watch these DVDs and report back to ya':

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
Black Snake Moan
Powerpuff Girls: Season 1
Reno 911: Season 4
Shooter
The New Adventures of Superman / The New Adventures of Batman
Walker, Texas Ranger: Season 3
7/8/2007 So here we are, another Fourth of July Holiday come and gone with nary an accident. Well, at least in our household. There were numerous people who blew themselves up around the country, I'm just surprised there WEREN'T more in Texas (people aren't too bright in these parts...)

The holidays did give me a chance to check out a few DVDs, though the pickings are always slim at this time of the year. I'm expecting next week's mail to be quite... full. Today I only have 1 DVD review:

Miss Potter
7/17/2007Not that I plan on taking any time to mention my birthday, but last week was... uh... my birthday. So many DVDs came in that I'm still sorting through them, so expect quite a few reviews throughout the week. But for today be content with:
Beauty and the Beast: Season 2
Gunsmoke: Season 1
Tales From the Crypt: Season 6
7/30/2007

A few weeks ago I mentioned the insane antics of the company I work for during the day. Wish me luck... I've interviewed twice for a new job and am hoping to hear back this week. While I'm waiting, I'll fill you guys in on a few new DVDs:
Baa Baa Black Sheep: Volume 2
Monk: Season 5
Stargate SG-1: Season 10
The Host
The Incredible Hulk: Season 2

8/12/2007 - Ahhh... as if the pressures of waiting word on a new job weren't bad enough, Lethal Death was without a domain name for a few days. That's right... the silly company that registers the name opted to expire it. Though it is not owned by me directly, I thought I'd save a little time by paying for it myself.... but because I did not have the proper passwords this same silly company would not let me pay for it.

Let's think about that for a moment shall we? I was not asking the company to change the ownership to me, nor was I asking them to give me any secret passwords. I did not require any information that would casue a breach of any security. I simply wanted to give them some moola in order to get the name out of expiration mode. They would not accept my money... for shame foolish company.

Anyhow, one of my good friends who started this site so many years ago came through at the last minute with all the log in names and password... allowing me not only to pay for the name, but actually change all the ownership over to me. So dear readers, Lethal Death will never expire again. (Death? Expire? Hmmm...ironic...)

So we're now back in business with one review to kick start the fun. Over the next few nights there will be more... oh so many more...:
Disturbia

8/14/2007 - This week is turning out to be a great one, now that things are back in order. I'm slowly catching up on reviews, so as not to waste any more time, here are a couple more to keep you going until tomorrow night:
Extras: Season 2
Rome: Season 2

8/20/2007 - Sometimes these weeks seem to fly by, other times they drag as thought time has stopped. As I'm getting older I honestly think I prefer the ones that drag... that way I'm not rushing to my... uh... impending doom. Thankfully I'm not THAT old and impending or not, that doom should be a long, long, long way off. (Unless of course, I get poppped by some idiot gang member or crazed gunman considering this has become such an increasingly violent world.

That said, I'm glad I have this neat little 'hobby' that allows me the opportunity to watch movies and shows that I might not have had the chance to otherwise. For example, this week I sat back to watch these DVDs:
Darkman Trilogy
Flash Gordon: Saviour of the Universe Edition
Serenity: Special Edition
The Simpsons: Season 10
