| This is pure movie fun. Critics have given
this movie MUCH flak... why? Because it's not
the latest Tom Hanks-Please give me an Oscar because
I cry in this movie too-award driven-self congratulatory
mess. Hey, I like Tom as much as the next guy...
but I preferred him in a dress hangin' with Peter
Scolare (did I spell that right?) trying to weasel
his way into Donna DIxon's panties. That was some
awesome entertainment. I'm sorry, I'm getting
off the subject. I was talking about critics.
Here's a message to all the critics... EAT MY
ASS! (I guess that goes for me too because I am
playing the part of a critic right now.) But the
fact that people get PAID to give us their opinion
on art is almost ridiculous. But that's an argument
for another time.
3,000 MILES TO GRACELAND is like HEAT meets NATURAL
BORN KILLERS but with a softer edge. It's got
everything... it's part crime drama, part action
flick, part buddy picture, part comedy... all
RUSSELL. Kurt Russell is just the coolest. Here's
the skinny on the flick. A bunch of dudes who
met in the pen decide to rob a casino in the middle
of an Elvis convention. They rob the place dressed
as... you guessed it... Elvis. (or is that Elvises
or maybe Elvi.) I don't like Kevin Costner PERIOD!
But I enjoyed the holy hell out of his performance
in this movie. He was just wicked... but still
carried a human side that made his character sympathetic.
Basically, Costner turns on his fellow crooks
and tries to make off with the cash... but Kurt
Russell is not counted out yet. Russell plays
a hooker with the heart of gold kinda character
who is torn between taking care of a young woman
and her son and getting his money back. The woman
is played by Courtney Cox... I'm not a big fan
of Courtney Cox but her performance was reminiscent
of her riveting role as Julie in MASTERS OF THE
UNIVERSE. A live action movie about He-man starring
Dolph Lundgren. She was good in this movie...
she also never struck me as an attractive woman...
UNTIL NOW! WOW!!! She put on a pound or two and
tanned up and HOLY SCHMOKES!!! She looks pretty
durn good.
I really don't want to give away too much of
this movie. I really feel like I'll ruin it. I
urge you to go see this film. For Kurt Russell
fans... it's a fun throwback to the days when
he played Elvis in ELVIS : THE MOVIE. He plays
the King to a T and plays just as good an impersonator.
Keep put after the film to enjoy a little music
video performed by Costner and Russell... followed
by a pretty funny out take. The film is all about
what I love in movies. A fun story to take a ride
through. A lot like HARLEY DAVIDSON AND THE MARLBORO
MAN... a film that was just absolutely fun and
entertaining to watch and not so long or dreary
to not be watched again. Not an award winner but
it sure pleases... and in the long run what's
more important? I recommend it highly.
