Oh my.

I don't say that often about movies. This one is freaky. This one is good. Freaky, but good. Possible spoilers to follow, read at your own risk.

I didn't really know what to expect with this movie... looked basically like another 'ghost story' movie that's been all the rage lately. But it's not. Be ready to be in suspense, almost the entire movie. The opening and closing credits are about the most you'll hear in the way of music. I'd say about 90% of the audio throughout the movie (not including dialogue, of course)... is ambient noise.

Imagine, if you will you're house... at night, power out. No sounds. Darkness. You know that feeling. That creeping feeling like someone's in the room with you... watching you. The suspense. You know there's nothing there, but damnit you just can't seem to convince yourself otherwise. That is the feeling you get while watching this movie.

And then you find out what's really going on. I don't want to go any further, because that'd be giving too much away.

It grabbed my attention, and held it throughout... and I shall definitely be seeing it again (because my Mom wants to see it, but she's afraid to see it at night ... hehe). After watching it, and while writing this review, I'm remembering little things about the movie, little quotes, or conversations... that you just don't make the connection while watching the movie. Only afterwards ... after reflecting on it, do you go "Oh yeah! That's what they were talking about..." That's freaking cool. Not many movies really have you thinking about them this much after watching them.

There's not really a whole lot more about it that I can go into... the acting was great, even the kids were good. The suspense was definitely present... it is quite possibly one of the best suspense movies I've ever seen... and will find a comfortable home in my DVD collection once it's released.
