I don't think I've ever been so frustrated with a game before in my life. So much promise and so much good stuff but there are so many blemishes against this game its not even funny.

No, really. Its not funny.

I'm not even sure where to start with my nitpicking. It starts off promising enough, though cliched. Your hero, Ryudo, is your typical journeyman, going around the world, doing odd jobs for whoever pays. Thankfuly though, he's not whiney or brooding. He's just a flat out bastard. We'll consider that +1 point.

He then runs into your stereotypical healer chick, Elena. -1 point.

You go on to meet other characters. Theres the demon woman who pretty much tries to rape you the first time she sees you. +5 points.

Then you mean Roan, the kid character with an annoyingly annoying voice and personality. -5.

You run into Mareg, the stereotypical beast-man. -1 point. However, he's not the stupid beast-man you find in most other games. So +1 on that.

You get Tio. She's just kind of there. But I'll give her +1 simply for some of her characterization.

The characters are the best thing about this game, especialy since most everything else hits a high point and quickly sinks. If I recall correctly, this was originaly a game on the Dreamcast, and after looking at this port, they should have kept it there. Technical aspect wise, this is a very flawed game. When you walk into towns, the game slows down because the machine can't handle everything that the game is throwing at it. That shouldn't happen. This is the kind of stuff you test like crazy. -5 Points.

And it wasn't just in the towns. In battle, certain spells look like ass because all components don't show up at the same time like they should. "Gravity" is a perfect example. Otherwise, the battle system is pure greatness.

And most sad of all, is that the lockup problems got so bad, that the game would freeze.

This should not happen at all on a console game. EVER

-20 points.

But back to battle, there are no random encounters as monsters are actualy visible on the map, allowing you to attack or dodge at will. (+1 Point) But you've got some long ass dungeons that don't offer a lot of variety but plenty of slow downs (-2 Points)

The music is fairly hit or miss as well. You've got some great piano and vocal tracks. Other than that though, you're going to get what sounds like generic video game music. Some of it may sound like 70's porn music. Thats only good if you've actualy got the porn. (-1 Point.)

But all of this, still does not hurt the game the most. A couple things maim this RPG.

1. Late in the game, two of the best characters are killed off in a span of 5 minutes, leaving you with one of the worst parties in the existence of role playing games. You've got your main guy, two glorified healers and a second tier fighter. (-25 Points)

And most of all, the sound, dear god the sound. Tell me, when a ten year old boy that wears sandals walks across grass, should it sound like lead boots on a metal floor? I think not. You can gather what I'm getting at. (-25 points)

Oh yeah, not enough Millenia (-Infinity)

So overall, this game hurt me to play. Don't get me wrong, it has its positive points <Like Millenia> but when you're done, you'll feel like something has taken your soul. I would give this a game a "F" but I'll be merciful.

I would recommend you play it on Dreamcast if you can find it or even want to play it at all.
