Things you can make in Smackdown: Just Bring It
1. Lesbians
2. The Tick
You can make more, but those two things really stood
out. I know those are fairly odd things to make but
when you see a certain path, sometimes you've just got
to take it. And with Smackdown: Just Bring It, you can
take plenty of paths.
First and foremost, there's the Create a Wrestler mode.
By all means, this mode is THE mode that sells the game.
Sure the gameplay is great and sure you can play as
your favorite wrestlers, but the Create a Wrestler mode
is the be all end all of wrestling games. Back in the
days of the original Nintendo it was an unheard of concept.
But come the time of WWF Warzone on the Playstation,
something new was needed. If you didn't like any of
the wrestlers available for it (and boy how I hate Bret
Hart) you could make your own to kick ass and take names.
Hours would be spent on creating characters and showing
them off to friends. This in a nutshell is what makes
wrestling games popular.
Lackluster Create a Wrestler modes have lead to disappointing
wrestling games such as ECW Hardcore Revolution and
the WCW games on the N64. Sadly even the first edition
of Smackdown had a crappy create a wrestler mode. THQ
improved tremendously with Smackdown 2 and with 3 they
only got better.
Any game that you can make the Tick and lesbians in,
has got to be good.
Other than the Create a Wrestler mode, there's plenty
to work with. The number of matches is insane. And insanity
is always a plus. The selection of wrestlers is decent
though whoever thought to add Fred Durst as a playable
character should be shot.
Do it now. Yes, you people at THQ. You know who you
are.
There is a drawback with the Story Mode. Its so repetitive,
its ridiculous. After the first couple of times of playing
through it to unlock the hidden cards, its cool. But
how many times do I have to see Vince McMahon ask the
Tick if he wants a tag title shot? After you've unlocked
everything, the story mode essentially has little to
no replay value. If they had kept the season mode from
Smackdown 2, I would have been happy.
Overall, this is a great game. And that's not just the
Create a Wrestler mode. And after playing this game
so much, I think its going to be tough enjoying "Legends
of Wrestling". But we'll see how it stacks up.
