Welcome.
So, it's been a while. Yep.
Tonight we have Olympic hockey going on.
If you like hockey, you have to love this stuff.
Wider surface, no redline, quick face-off's, best
players on Earth. Kinda neat and shit.
Canada takes on Belarus to see who advances to
the Gold Medal game. And the USA plays Russia
on the 22nd anniversary of the "Miracle On Ice"
to see who advances, also. That probably
whips some of the nostalgic goobers into a frenzy.
Things are different now... the only Cold War
seems to be stemming from North Korea, not Russia.
Plus, the Russians aren't quite as mighty as they
used to be.
Team Canada vs. Team Belarus
With Canada and Belarus, this game should be
over with fairly quickly. Canada will conquer
their ass with ease, unless 2 miracles can happen
in the same week, which I doubt highly.
For those who don't know, Belarus pulled off one
of the biggest upsets in the history of Olympic
hockey on Wednesday by defeating the Swedish team,
4-3. Belarus didn't win a single game in
pool play. In fact, they got outscored 22-6
in the 3 games. Sweden went 3-0 to achieve
the best record and seed in pool play. Yet,
Belarus pulled it all out, even scoring from center
ice, and now they face Team Canada, who seem to
be settling in and finding their groove.
This has the makings of a blow-out.
Prediction : Team Canada,
6-2
Team Russia vs. Team USA
Ok, so this should be a fantastic game.
6 days ago, these teams played to a 2-2 tie with
Russia pretty much controlling the game.
Brett Hull had to score a clutch goal in the waning
minutes to secure the tie. But that goal
triggered something very very positive for the
US team. That positive was the
rejoining of Hull and Mike Modano on the same
line. Anyone remember the Stanley Cup victory
for the Dallas Stars? Blame those 2 guys
right there. I don't mind. Add on
top of that John LeClair, who will go to the net
at any price (He lost a tooth and bloodied his
lip twice in Wednesday's game). If that
trio of players get loose, Russia will have to
hold it's breath and hope they can withstand it.
Beyond all that, I think the Americans just have
too much going for them. Down with the Reds!
Prediction : Team USA, 3-2
Some NBA thoughts coming soon. Thursday
afternoon the Dallas Mavericks made a huge trade
for the 2nd year in a row. They got a big
man, some defense, and some scoring. All
of this, and not giving up too much. Let's
see if they can elevate their game to the next
level and hope their chemistry doesn't get forked.
The FUYA Season plays it's 7th week tonight.
I've had a terrible time making the transition
to the website here, but it will be here before
the 2nd season starts. We're running through
the inaugural season right now, and a whole lot
of what happens doesn't really matter all that
much, including the championship game. It's
still fun as hell, though.
Thanks for reading,
