First
off, congratulations on your Emmy nomination
for your character Doc Cochran in “Deadwood”. |
 |
Oh well,
thank you very much. |
 |
You’re
welcome. I’m sure you’ve
already gotten that a million times
and you’ll hear it a million more.
Love the show. It’s very strong.
It has a very unique vernacular though.
I’ve noticed that I can’t
get through an episode without hearing
“fuck”, “cock sucker”
or “whore”. |
 |
(laughs)
Yeah. |
 |
Well,
what I wanna know is if you have a favorite
among those three? |
 |
Ummmm…”cock
sucker” I think. |
 |
There
we go! Nothing but the burning questions
here, Brad. |
 |
(laughs)
I can see that. |
 |
Seriously
though. Let’s get into it. Hitting
shelves September 14th is your new movie
“The Hazing”. Can you tell
me a little bit about that? |
 |
“The
Hazing” is about a magical book
that’s been passed down from generation
to generation and has found it’s
way into the hands of this evil professor.
For centuries, this family has killed
to protect the secret of the book and
eventually use it to open a gateway.
This gateway is about to be opened when
some kids from a local sorority going
through an initiation or hazing stumble
onto the scene. Now they have to survive
the plots of this evil professor. |
 |
And that’s
played by you? |
 |
Yes. |
 |
Awesome.
Now, is this your first time working
with - forgive me if I pronounce this
wrong – Rolfe Kanefsky? |
 |
Yes. |
 |
Was he
the kind of director that gave you the
freedom to flesh out your character
on your own or did he kinda set the
limits for you? |
 |
Well,
you have to work very fast when it’s
a lower budget film. And we worked very
quickly. There wasn’t really much
time to flesh out anything on set. But
we did most of all that stuff before
the film began shooting. We did some
re-writing and stuff like that. |
 |
Any memorable
experiences or funny stories from working
on “The Hazing”? |
 |
Ya know,
it went so fast, I don’t really…..I
guess Brooke Burke. She’s a beautiful
woman and there are a lot of beautiful
women in this business. But she really
stands out. I worked with her at her
house and rehearsed with her before
we shot. But then she came out in this
tight suit and she’s had two kids
and I just looked at her and said “Oh
my God.” |
 |
I hear
ya. |
 |
That was
like…I mean, I had never been
so shocked. I said “On behalf
of all women who have had children ‘fuck
you’.” |
 |
(laughs) |
 |
She has
a remarkably beautiful body. Really,
really rare. |
 |
Switching
gears completely here. With all the
roles you’ve played, is there
still one dream role that Brad Dourif
would LOVE to take on? |
 |
Well,
most of my dream roles were things that
I wanted to do when I was younger. I
always wanted to play St. Francis of
Asisi but, of course, I’m way
too old at this point. |
 |
Interesting.
Well, damn. It looks like we’re
just about out of time here, Brad. So,
let me say thank you for taking this
time to talk with me and, again, congratulations
on the Emmy nomination. We’ll
be pullin’ for ya. |
 |
Thank
you very much. |
